A boiler service is required once a year to ensure it is safe, efficient and reliable. If your boiler is under warranty it is a requirement from the manufacturer that it be serviced once a year, failure to carry out the boiler service will invalidate your Manufacturer’s Warranty.

What we do to carry out a boiler service?

  • We carry out a gas tightness test to ensure the Gas Pressure is right and the system of free from Gas Leaks.
  • We carry out a test on your flue to ensure your appliance isn’t leaking carbon monoxide and also check the CO2 ratios.
  • We check the Gas Valve on the appliance to ensure it is operating at the correct pressure, as per manufacturers specifications.
  • Clean out condensate trap, if this is outside the manufacturers tolerances, the gas appliances will be recalibrated.
  • Check all gas appliances at the property.
  • We inspect all appliances for safe operation and wear and tear.

What is a Gas tightness test?

A gas tightness test is a procedure which examines the gas pressure inside a property’s pipe work and this is a vital part of a thorough gas safe test.  This will ensure that there aren’t any gas leaks in the system.

What is a Condensate Trap?

A condensate trap sometimes referred to as “drip leg” in the gas line.This is installed in the gas line between the shut off valve and the furnace. The “drip leg” or “condensate trap” collects / traps any moisture that condenses in the gas line and keeps the moisture from entering the furnace.

The condensate trap is a short 4″ or 5″ piece of gas pipe that runs perpendicular to the gas main and it has a pipe cap at the bottom of the trap. Moisture in the line will collect in the trap.

What is a “Gas Safety Certifcate/Record”?

A Gas Safety Certificate is a Legal document which certifies that the Gas Installation and all Gas Aplliances are safe to operate and use.

What is a Gas Safe registered Engineer?

A Gas Safe Registered Engineer(Gas Safe Engineer) is a qualified and competent engineer who is registered with Gas Safe to carry out work and Inspections on Gas Installations and Appliances.

I’ve got a Gas Leak, what do I do?

In a gas emergency act quickly and take the following safety steps:

  1. Get fresh air immediately. Open all doors and windows to ventilate the room
  2. Switch off the appliance and do not use it again until it has checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer
  3. Turn off the gas supply at the
  4. Call the National Gas Emergency number (TEL: 0800 111 999)
  5. If you are feeling ill visit your GP or the hospital immediately and them that your symptoms may be related to carbon monoxide poisoning
  6. Contact a Gas Safe registered engineer to check appliance.

What happens if we find an issue during servicing?

If we come across any defects etc whilst servicing, we will make you aware of the defect/s and any cost associated to remedying the problem. We will only fix any defects if you require us to. Our aim is to ensure the whole process is completely transparent to you so you can make an informed decision.
