Frequently Asked Questions – Heating – Boilers

Is it completely free?

In most cases, it is 100% free. In rare instances, if the calculated cost of the work comes to more than the grant you may be asked to make a contribution.

This can happen if there is additional work needed and/or the property is already efficient. You will be advised of any contribution during the free survey and will have time to decide whether or not you want to proceed.

It is very rare our customers are asked to contribute towards new heating boilers. If the situation was ever to occur we would put in writing the additional cost and let you decide, however customer contributions are rare but always feel free to ask.

Will I have to fill in lots of paperwork?

No. We will carry out your survey and also complete the necessary paperwork. We will require your authorisation though. Generally we require your signatures on forms but process all the submission for you to access the funding for you or your property.

Are your fitters qualified?

Yes, as a company we adhere to strict quality management systems and enforce them at all times. If you are ever in doubt your engineer will always carry his gas ID card, so do not hesitate to ask the engineer to verify him/her self.

Is there a warranty on the boiler?

Depending on the make of the boiler you will receive a warranty of between 2 to 5 years or maybe more depending on the type of boiler installed at your property.

Who decides which boiler is installed or can I choose my own?

We do, however if you would like a particular boiler you have in mind, just feel free to ask however we are sure you wont be disappointed by boiler manufacturers as in most case our general boilers exceed basic requests.

How soon can I have my boiler installed?

Once we have received your application and it has been vetted, only from your application being vetted the process takes on average 10 days. However we do aim to meet all installations within 7 working days.

How long does the installation take?

Installation normally takes 1 – 2 days depending on the amount of work required.

Is there much mess?

This will depend on the amount of work needed in the property. For instance, if pipe work needs to be re-routed it will be messier than a straightforward boiler swap. The surveyor should be able to give you an indication of how much work is needed and address any concerns you may have. Whatever the case, the installers will clear up any mess afterwards.

Can I pay to upgrade the boiler/heating controls?

Yes you may, all you have to do is ask the engineer allocated your installation and he/she will be more than happy to assist. Our prices for additional work are some of the best you will find around.

Are there any grants available to help assist with the payment of Cavity Wall Insulation?

A set criteria has to be met under the Governments Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme the majority of our customers qualify. All you have to do is get in touch and we will take care of the rest
